Gallastar’s history includes over 30 years of serving the youth in our area with evidence-based therapy and tutoring services. Ron and Lorelai Pulliam specialize in helping children, typically grades K-12, with a variety of developmental, cognitive, and behavioral needs. We believe every child has a chance to be their best self, and it is our privilege to help them get there.
Lorelai Pulliam is a veteran teacher of 30+ years, specializing in special education. She is a multi-titled expert, having her Masters in Special Education with an emphasis on Autism, Board Certification and Licensed as a Behavior Analyst in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She is also a certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor with PATH International and has additional certification as an equine specialist in Mental Health and Learning.
Ron Pulliam spent his career serving the community as Clinical Director of Child and Family Services at the Rockbridge Area Community Services Board. After his retirement, he devoted his time to his private practice as a counselor and continues to serve as the Lead Therapist at Gallastar Therapy and Tutoring. He has earned many other titles here at Gallastar, such as Mechanic, Construction Specialist, Animal Rescuer, Lifter of Heavy Things, and Wearer of Many Hats.
Gallastar Therapy and Tutoring is located on 70 private acres with serene woodlands and rolling pastures. It is also home to approximately 200 rescued animals. By combining our individualized approach along with animal-assisted therapy, we often find our clients connecting with a particular species or even a specific animal. We foster this relationship to provide insight for inner healing for both the client and animal alike. We are honored to be able to offer these services to children who might not otherwise have such an opportunity.
